Associa Desert Resort Management Resolves Budget Discrepancy

Associa Desert Resort Management has managed this 193-unit community since 1999. The community features 11 pools and spas, as well as tennis and pickleball courts.

Challenge:

This association had a prior year’s deficit of almost $50,000.

Resolution:

The Associa Desert Resort Management staff met with the board on three occasions to resolve this issue. With the staff's advice, the board agreed upon and initiated a one-time special assessment and increased the monthly assessment by $10.00.Residents were unhappy with these decisions. However, the community manager took it upon herself to contact each homeowner by phone or email to answer all questions related to the special assessment and increase. Thanks to her communication efforts, the majority of residents paid the special assessment in full. Moving forward, the team will continue to collaborate with the board to complete much-needed repairs and work on the budget.
